Turn, Face and Defeat Gingivitis…

Posted on 31 July 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

gum disease

Waking up in the morning brushing your teeth is a daily habit for most Americans. We look at our mouth as a function for talking and eating. Like other parts of our body it needs care. This attacks teeth and gums putting you at risk of gum disease, also known as periodontal disease.

One of the first stages of gum disease is plaque starts accumulating on your teeth. It is not noticeable in the beginning. Scheduling appointments with your dentist for cleanings will include eliminating the buildup. If not, it can progress into the next stage. The plaque turns into a hard material making it harder to clean and turns into tarter. At this point, you will have to rely on a professional to remove it which consists of a scraping. Sometimes this can be painful.

If you haven’t practiced routine oral hygiene, you’ll begin experiencing early signs of gum disease. When you brush your teeth bleeding may occur in the gums. A slight swelling may also be seen. If treatment is not sought, the tissue surrounding your teeth and the bone will begin to weaken. You’ll be at risk of your teeth beginning to wiggle, and you will begin to lose them. This stage is known as periodontitis. You will also experience unfavorable breath.

One of the best ways for prevention of gum disease is exercising good oral hygiene. It is just not enough to brush your teeth once a day. Brush after every snack and every meal. Include flossing after every meal to reduce plaque. Schedule two appointments annual for a professional cleaning. If you happen to notice some of the signs of gum disease, contact your dentist immediately. Professional care will attack and treat gum disease early on.

Gum disease is serious, and can be scary, but it can be treated. The best place to start is using the preventive measures.

Remember the importance of flossing and brushing frequently throughout the day. Stick to your professional cleanings. Doing this will ensure a healthy mouth.

Take Your Time- Adjusting to a New Diet

Wailana's Tasty Vegetarian Soups

Am I ready to become a vegetarian?

We all have heard about the health benefits that come from eating a vegetarian diet. Heart disease risks go down significantly and digestion also improves. You may be thinking to yourself that you would like to see those kinds of health benefits, but giving up meat is out of the question. We’ve also all heard about the ideal source of protein that meats are. Our bodies can use the nutrition found in meat efficiently to build muscle as well as energy levels. In fact, there are risks within a vegetarian diet for failure to achieve sufficient protein levels. Consider the possibility of having the best of both worlds. You can be a vegetarian… most of the time.

Becoming a vegetarian is easy-sometimes
Whether it is for forecastedhealth reasons or for some health problem that you already have, a vegetarian diet will improve your chances for healthy living. Add a few more leaves to your diet and you’ll be surprised how much more energy you will have.

Essential tips for going veggie

To become a vegetarian you will probably just start replacing meat with karma-free alternatives. Instead of pork stir fry, you’ll make it seasoned tofu stir fry. That isn’t so hard. You can even make vegetarian BBQ, burgers, and a huge variety of foods.  Wailana has a database of detailed recipes which you would never have thought were vegetarian! Indeed there are many types of “vege meats” and “seitan” texturized proteins, etc, which can be cooked in many different ways. If you’re wonderingabout using cheese and eggs though? Try to look for the healthier alternatives, or at least, try to lessen the amount of cheese and eggs you eat. Cheese and eggs are very high in cholesterol- so beware. The answer could be just to eat meat occasionally on your vegetarian diet.

Eating meat like dessert
Some meats, especially skinless chicken breasts or nearly any cut of turkey, are low in fat and still contain complete proteins. If you have become a vegetarian for health reasons, you may want to consider continuing to eat meat occasionally. Wai Lana Yoga has more information about the vegetarian diet and nutrition needs and concerns.

There is no need to worry about not having enough energy from the food you eat either. Avoiding eating meat at every meal, or even every day will suit your vegetarian diet well. If you eat meat on occasion, in the same way that you eat dessert, the benefits could be obvious. You could gain all of the nutrition that meat has to offer without flooding your system with the foods that are less healthy for you. By eating your complete proteins as meat instead of other higher fat animal products, you will be enjoying the benefits of a truly balanced and nutritious diet.

Being a vegetarian doesn’t mean that you have to avoid all meat all the time. Meat is still a nutritious food. You also may occasionally want to eat meat on special occasions. You will receive better nutrition and you will feel less deprived of the meats that you once enjoyed every day. To get the best health benefits of both worlds, try being a vegetarian most of the time.  When you’re ready, you can then try being a full-time vegetarian. But if you want to go 100% vegetarian, go for it!  Once you’ve tried wonderful vegetarian dishes like Wai Lana’s seitan variations, you can have your healthy “meats” and oh-so-tasty, healthy dishes.

Learn Techniques In Controlling Panic Attacks

Posted on 31 July 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

Learning how to control panic attacks can become essential if you are a chronic sufferer. It can ruin all areas of your life and make daily life nearly unpleasant. These techniques will teach how to stop panic attacks and start getting back to a normal way of living.

The first technique is to start paying attention. Often times our thoughts begin to race a mile a minute and this causes us to be unable to control panic attacks. Slow down, recognize what is going on around you, and start to act on it. Action is the sign of a person in control, not responding to what is going on.

The second technique is to practice meditation and breathing techniques. Meditation or yoga allows us to develop the ability to gain a clear perspective on things inside of us, circumstances in our lives, and how to deal with both. Breathing works and allows us to control panic attacks by maintaining control of our body. Breathing properly teaches us to slow down and pay attention. It also gives us our breathing to focus on instead of that which is causing stress.

The third technique is to logically pay attention. When we want to stop panic attacks, we really want to control our emotions. When we react to situations from an emotional stand point, we react in ways that do not give the greatest outcome. We must learn to act on it, instead of react, from a logical point of view. Often times we feel that we are in danger, and this causes anxiety. When we logically look at things, we very quickly realize that our mind is making this danger up and that there is nothing to worry about.

If you are able to control your panic attacks, you’ll feel relax a lot more, and thus live a lot more enjoyable life. Use the 3 techniques outlined above, and you’ll find yourself enjoying every single day on this earth a whole lot more.

Fortunately, preventing panic attacks is a lot easier than you think. Most people think that because their suffering is so severe (especially if you suffer from hormonal anxiety), finding a cure is either impossible or just too damn hard - this is simply not true! Out of the many cures available today (some of which are absolutely terrible), by far what we consider to be the most effective is Panic Away, an eBook boasting over 27,000 cures in 2008 alone.

Panic Away is a cure that has received acclaim from the medical community, and is probably the quickest and easiest way to stop panic attacks dead in their tracks. As you think about how much better life could be when you don’t have to worry about suffering any longer, allow yourself to take a look at our Panic Away Review, and make the best decision you can for your mental health and well-being!

3 Very Simple Exercises To Grow Taller

Posted on 31 July 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

A myriad of general well being benefits can be derived from basic exercise but it can also provide systematic benefits for height growth. 3 easy exercise methods that can be performed in the privacy of your own home are outline in this post; but it must be highlighted that this is simple an initial list and there are plenty more. The opening stage of this article discusses per-exercise tips which are vitally important before any physical exercise. It is highly recommended that if any of these exercises are uncomfortable in a painful manner to discontinue use.

Pre-exercise Tips

Stretching is the first pre-exercise tip and will limit the probability that the performance of exercising will result in injury. It is recommended to stretch all predominant muscle groups and to take your time with stretching in a controlled manner. Increasing your body’s blood flow is a method to ensure you maximise your body’s efficiency which will help you to grow taller.

To ensure maximum benefit is gained from the exercises which are about to be discussed it is highly recommended that you focus on your breathing technique as it not only increases your overall health but also how efficiently your body will recover from exercise.

After exercise numerous body illnesses and fatigue may occur – to decrease the probability of these circumstances it is pivotal to breath efficiently.

The correct breathing technique involves three stages of breathing air inwards, retaining air inside lungs and then exhaling.

1. Hanging

One of the biggest factors that stunts human growth is the constant force of gravity which we are exposed to every second of our life. This force compresses our entire body; from our bones to our muscles and cartilage.

. It is fortunate that the impedance of the gravity force is also an effective method of strengthening our bodies given the constant nature of doing work on our own body weight.

Hanging is a very simple process that involves the full extension of your body by clutching an overhead bar that is a little bit above the full reach of your body. Whilst hanging it is very important to relax the rest of your body muscles as this will maximise the effectiveness of this technique.

Hanging is a method that should last for anywhere between ten and twenty second dependent upon your fitness; you should then break and repeat the procedure.

2. The Cobra

The Cobra is named after the body shape that you will create during the procedure and is the next exercise which will be detailed in this blog post to help you to grow taller.

The second exercise that is discussed in this article mainly focuses on stretching out your spine and reinforces your back muscle group.

First begin by lying face down on your matt and focussing on your breathing. Ensure that both your legs are pressed together and slowly start arching your back as far as you can.

Throughout the duration of the Cobra exercise it is important to remember the breathing techniques that were mentioned early in this article. The Cobra technique can be repeated as many times as possible and you should start to notice an increase in your flexibility over time.

3. Leg Raise

To support your spine you must have strong ab muscles; this can be achieved through the exercise known as the leg raise. Whilst facing stomach up on an aerobics matt ensure both legs are at a 90 degree angle with your torso. Now raise your hips 2-4 inches off of the aerobics matt ensuring to push up with your abdominal muscles Do not persist with these exercises if there are any signs of pain! Consult a doctor.

Gum Disease is Scary Sometimes…

We typically think of our mouth as a vehicle for talking and eating. We overlook caring for it while attracting bacteria day in and day out. Some bad bacteria can attack your gums and teeth. This could start the early stages of gum disease, also medically termed periodontal disease, if not looked after.

Gum disease starts out with plaque build up. The plaque sticks to your teeth and at first is not visible to you. If you don’t make regular trips to a dentist who will usually scrape it off during cleaning, then it can build up over time at extreme stages. When this happens it turns into a hard substance known as tarter. When tarter builds up it can only be removed during a cleaning as it is too hard for you to scrape away.

In the early stages of gum disease, you will experience swelling of the gums, and maybe light bleeding as you brush. This stage is called gingivitis. Overtime, if you haven’t sought treatment, the bone and tissue deteriorate, and teeth often become loose and may need to be removed, or they eventually fall out. This stage is called periodontitis. Another sign that goes along with this is bad breath. To prevent this from happening, the starting place is protecting your gums.

In most cases you can prevent gum disease. The rule of thumb for good oral hygiene allows you to take matters into your own hands. Brush after every meal, include flossing. Maintain a regular schedule for cleaning with your Dentist, twice a year is the norm. Even if you have noticed early stages of gum disease , a quick trip to your Dentist who will begin the necessary diagnostic in treatment will help you fight this off.

The good news is that gum disease is preventable. Attention to everyday oral hygiene including brushing, flossing and cleanings by your professional two times a yearly may be the only steps necessary to prevention.

With these measures, you’ll be successful keeping your teeth and gums healthy.

How To Overcome Panic Attacks

Posted on 31 July 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

Panic attacks can certainly be frightening; however, it is important to learn how to control panic attacks in order to regain control of your life.

One of the first tips you can used to control panic attacks is to be aware that while the panic attack itself is frightening it won’t hurt you and although you may feel like it at the time you are not going to die. It is also important to note that you are not going crazy. The symptoms you experience during an panic attack are simply a biological response to a threat that is being perceived as an emergency. Your body is reacting as though it is in danger and releasing energy to prepare you to either flee or stay and fight the perceived danger. Even though all of these reactions are not needed, your body does not understand that and you may feel as though you are going to faint, have a heart attack, lose control, etc. Try to focus on the fact that none of this is going to happen.

In learning how to overcome panic attacks, tell yourself to slow down. This means making an effort to slow down your rate of breathing by practicing breathing exercises, slowing down your racing thoughts by thinking calming thoughts and making an effort to physically slow down your body. Take a deep slow breaths. Inhale and exhale slowly, counting as you go. As you practice these exercises, focus on slowly relaxing your muscles. Not only will this help to control your breathing but also other symptoms associated with the attack as well such as confusion, dizziness, tingling, trembling and possible muscle aches.

It can also be helpful to contact someone you trust from a support system when you are experiencing a panic attack in order to take control of the situation. Even if the person is not available to see in person, try calling them to talk about what you are experiencing. This person can greatly help to support you while the panic is controlled.

Another method you can use in learning how to deal with panic attacks includes considering occupying your mind with something else in order to control the attack. Excellent ideas include listening to music and making an effort to notice details of what is going on around you, particularly concrete objects. This can help you to take your mind off the thoughts you might experience during a panic attack and focus those thoughts on something more positive and constructive.

Am I Having a Heart Attack or a Panic Attack?

Posted on 31 July 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

Many people ask the same question when they’re dealing with panic attacks because the symptoms of both are very similar. In fact, thousands of people are rushed to the emergency year believing they are having a heart attack when in fact they are having a panic attack.

A very important distinction is that a panic attack is usually not accompanied with severe pain while some having a heart attack may experience pain in the chest, arms, neck, jaw or stomach. The pain may come and go, or may not be present at all unlike having a heart attack.

Rapid breathing and feeling as if you can’t get enough air is a symptom of both panic attacks and heart attacks so the distinction may be difficult to decipher. For someone who is in the middle of a panic attack, it may be hard to remember that they can improve their breathing by taking a slow-deep breath.

After a panic attack the person will return to normal and have none of the symptoms, while the symptoms of a heart attack will not disappear on their own.

It’s really difficult to self diagnose whether you’re having a heart attack or a panic attack. So getting a professional medical help and evaluation is highly recommended. Getting diagnosed after having a panic attack will put you on the course of overcoming future panic attacks.

Some people can have a panic attack and never have another again. To some, the first panic attack leads to the start of panic disorder where you experience panic attacks regularly. In order to overcome this panic disorder, you need to know that you are physically healthy and will not die.

Once that it is clear to you that you will not die, you’ve tackled the first hurdle toward getting better. Next you’ll have to face your fear and invite a panic attack. I know it sounds strange but waiting for one to happen and actually trying to make one happen and coming out on the other side of it is what will help you get over them. You see, the worry about having another panic attack is what actually causes of panic attacks. You look for tingling sensations or heart palpitations constantly and the minute something feels a bit off, you’re thrown into a full-blown panic.

I was fortunate enough to find a method that helped me in overcoming panic attacks and have been panic free for over a year.

Good luck.

You Can Lose Weight Fast And Keep It Off

Posted on 31 July 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

For those of you who are up to the challenge, the following 3 steps are all you need on how can i lose weight

The fast way to lose weight begins with your diet. You can lose weight by eating junk, but you will NEVER keep it off. So what is the best weight loss food? You need to eat food that has low calorie density and high nutrient content. The only foods on the planet that have these characteristics are plant-based. Majority of your diet should consist of plant-based unprocessed food. That’s correct, you need to eat your fruits and vegetable.

We are a product of our own habits and by judging from the physical appearance of most our habits stink! There are two habits that you need to lose weight fast and healthy and get a quick weight loss. First thing you have to do is you need to stop over-eating. Do not eat beyond the point that you are full. If you eat until you are stuffed you have eaten too much! Secondly, you have to spread your meals out. Ideally, you should be eating 5 to 6 small meals a day. This is ultimately the best way to obtain a fast metabolism. Do this for a week and you will notice the difference.

I realize that it may sound crazy to some, but exercise is fundamental to a healthy body. Exercise is a key ingredient for a fast metabolism and a trim, tone figure. Find an exercise that you enjoy and do it daily. Exercise type is not as important as exercise intensity. You need to sweat it out!

As long as we continue to chase the dream of magic pills and quick effortless fixes, we will continue to be overweight. You can lose weight fast and keep it off, but you must be willing to follow these three steps. The fastest way to lose weight does take effort, but the results are soooooo worth it!

Use Only 3 Ways to Lose Weight

Posted on 31 July 2009 in Uncategorized by admin

Every time I talk to my patient, they always says this “help me lose weight“. Being said that, I have design ways on how to do it. Here are the best ways to help lose weight that will pave the way to you finally being able to get some significant weight loss without too much effort, without crazy dieting, and without having to suffer or torture yourself in the gym.

How do i lose weight? Here are the ways to help lose weight

1. Jump on a mini-trampoline for quick and easy cardio

Most of us are busy these days. Getting to the gym 4-5 days a week is simply not possible for a lot of people. So, I would suggest that you go buy a $25 mini-trampoline, set it up in your living room, and then jump on it for 2 minutes during a bunch of TV commercials.

Just to let you know that there are about 20 minutes of commercials for each 1 hour of tv programming. So there’s more free time during commercials to get in 20 or more minutes of a great, total body workout using the mini-trampoline everyday.

2. 15 seconds of cold water SUPERCHARGE weight loss

Use this trick to create instant fat burning (thermogenesis) for 10+ hours… take you’re regular shower, but after you’re done, turn the knob to REALLY COLD and rinse the cold water all over your body for a total of 15 seconds.

I’ll admit, it’s brutal… Surely it works and it’s only 15 seconds. If you’re serious about weight loss, try it out. The cold water forces the body’s internal temperature to rise SLIGHTLY. When this happens, your body is in the ideal environment to burn fat.

3. Rub your belly

Huh? Rub both of your hands together to generate heat. After 15 seconds, begin rubbing circles around your stomach for another 30 seconds. Repeat it again for a total of a few minutes. You will be surprise to get the best results if you do this twice a day.

The heat from your hands passes right through your skin and into the fat cells in your belly. The heat KINDA “zaps” those fat cells. With repeated “zaps”, the fat deposits loosen up and eliminated out of your body.

These tips and tricks are some of the best and quick ways to lose weight.
