Can you really use yoga for weight loss?  Yes.Do not write yoga off as just being stretching and relaxation.  If you walk into a class at your gym, though, you will probably walk out with a very different perception of this type of exercise. You will be burning the same amount of calories in a yoga class as you would doing any typical type of cardio.

When you are doing hot yoga, you are actually doing resistance exercise as well. When you hear resistance training, you need to think weight lifting.Your body weight is the weight you are lifting, and this produces great results.  This type of activity will strengthen your muscles just like any other resistance exercise would.

It is easy to find variations on exercises you would typically use in training.A typical yoga class will include squats, push-ups and lunges, even if you don’t realize it.  The reason yoga is more fun is because you are not thinking of these poses as exercises in the traditional sense. There is an art to yoga. You will start to appreciate your body as you see it reflected beautifully back to you from the mirror.

You will see weight loss with yoga because of the benefits in brings both physically and emotionally. It is important to find peace in your day in order to decrease the use of poor coping strategies.  By this I mean ‘emotional eating’.  Most people think they don’t do this—but anytime you eat for reasons other than hunger, there is something going on for you.

If you can commit to doing yoga 3-5 days a week, you will certainly begin to see some weight loss results.Your body will change just by doing yoga.It may not seem like this type of exercise can change your body, but it does.  Sometimes you get stuck in the mentality that you have to hate the exercise for it to be beneficial.  No pain, no gain, right? This is false.  You don’t have to torture your body into submission.  You can actually be really kind to it, and you will be very pleased with how it responds.
